This phrase can get anymore realistic. Let's not bring science into the topic, no I'm not mentioning materials or constructions. I'm talking about non-physical things, something which cannot be measured: confidence, memory, leadership, love, feelings, faith, fitness and et cetera.
What do i mean by that? Well in my opinion, they don't last because they all will fade away gradually without constant enrichment and nourishment.
For example, you used to be confident in driving, but after couple of years without driving, do you still have the same amount of confidence to drive?
For example, you used to be able to recite the whole glycolysis pathway in your poly years, but after one whole year of zero recap, are you still able to do the same?
For example, you used to have so a lot faith in god, thinking he always help you and answer your prayers ( in actual fact only 50/50), but if you didn't get what you asked for for a long time, will you still hold the same faith?
For example, you used to do 20 pull ups one shot every single day without difficulties, and then you stop doing it for a period of time, can you even do half the amount after couple of years?
For example, you used to love someone so deep that you miss him/her every moment, but after a period of time when you have new commitments or one party drift off, will you still feel the same amount of love?
Sure, there are always exceptions, but i'm sure 'no' would be the most accepted answers to all of the questions mentioned.
